The Mural Project

16 Mar

Tacoma's The Mural Project recently sat down to talk shop with IFP staff writer Adrian Rowe. You can catch them tomorrow alongside Xylophones, Less Than Three & Melody Monster.

Hailing from Tacoma Washington, recent Chant Records artists The Mural Project bring their tightly crafted rock pop flavors to Voyage on March 16th. I recently had the chance to talk with bassist Jackson Milton to find out more about what makes The Mural Project tick.

How do you describe your band to people who don’t know you?

We like to think our music is pretty ill, easy to enjoy no matter your personal musical stylings.

Where does your band name come from?

The Mural Project comes from a collection of portraits by photographer Ansel Adams.

How long have you all known each other?

We’ve all been friends for years now.

What is the best record ever made?

We’d probably all disagree on the best record, anything from Local Natives’ “Gorilla Manor” to Take Off Your Pants and Jacket by blink-182 to Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool.

Who are your musical influences?

Our musical influences span genres and decades.

How has your music changed since you first started playing together?

Our music has matured, tightened up, and improved since we started writing original material a couple years ago.

Where can we listen to your music at?

We’re working on a new record right now that’ll be hitting our Facebook page for sampling as soon as possible.

Any last words?

Thanks for listening!

-Adrian Rowe, IFP
